The origin of Torremolinos' water

Torremolinos drinks from its natural springs

Historically, Torremolinos drew water from the natural springs situated in the current Camino de los Pinares.

The springs have now been restored for public viewing. The Inca and Albercón del Rey springs can be visited within the enclosure known as Molino de Inca, established in the Botanical Gardens since its restoration in 2003.

However, due to overexploitation of the aquifer from which many other municipalities in the Costa del Sol draw their water, the aforementioned springs have not flowed since 1996, which is why water has been extracted through seven boreholes distributed around the municipality. The main ones are located in the area of Pinillo and in the facilities of Aguas de Torremolinos in the San José area.

Water extracted from the aforementioned boreholes is accumulated in distribution tanks with a storage capacity of 70,000 m³, which provide water mainly for domestic, industrial and irrigation uses.

You can check the origin of the drinking water in your municipality on the SINAC (National Drinking Water Information System) website.
